Nuclear Stress Test
Precision Nuclear Cardiac Imaging for Early Detection
What Is a Nuclear Stress Test?
- Areas of reduced circulation
- Signs of coronary artery disease
- Previous heart damage
- Heart pumping efficiency
- Risk of future cardiac events
Why Your Doctor May Recommend This Test
- Chest pressure or discomfort
- Shortness of breath
- Unexplained fatigue
- Irregular heartbeat
- Diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol
- Family history of cardiac conditions
How the Procedure Works
Preparation
Electrodes are placed on your chest to monitor heart rhythm, and an IV line is started for tracer injection.
Rest Imaging
The radiotracer is administered while you are relaxed. Special imaging equipment captures pictures of blood flow to your heart.
Stress Phase
You will either walk on a treadmill or receive medication that simulates exercise by increasing blood flow. Your heart activity is closely monitored.
Stress Imaging
Another set of images is taken to compare circulation during exertion versus rest.
Take the Next Step Toward a Healthy Heart
Although radioactive material is used, the amount is very low and considered medically safe. Our specialists follow strict radiation safety protocols to ensure minimal exposure. Most people resume normal activities immediately after the study. Book an Appointment
